Disneyland!

Last Tuesday Broc, Kris's mom and I took off to Disneyland for a couple days. Christine (Kris's mom) hadn't been in years and was excited to go. Probably still not as much as me, but it sure was fun to go with her.

We left Tuesday morning and arrived in Long Beach by 10:30, rented our car and didnt know what to do next. While driving out of the airport we saw the sign for Knotts Berry Farm. I havent been there since I was knee high to a grasshopper so we went there the rest of the day. Broc had a blast in Snoppy Land, it felt like Lagoon to me, just a smigin better. They had a lot of rollar coasters that I dont rememember seeing, and I went on a couple (solo). We rode on the train there and they had these cute cowboys and they robbed the train. They were really funny, one said to a couple, "give me all your money," then he looked at them closely and said, "4 kids, you probably all ready spent it at Disneyland". They have a real stage coach and I remember riding on that when I was younger and my parents have the cutest pic of me sitting with the drivers when I was probably 3, but we didnt get to ride on the top we had to ride inside, Broc was a little disappointed. The lines were short and the weather was pleasant. Not too Hot and not too CoLd.

That night I couldnt sleep at all, Kris said it was because I was so excited and that is why I couldnt sleep. But nope, I found something out about my mother in law that night...She SNORES just like Kris. Except she only snores for about the first hour and half. I tried kicking the bed with my foot but that didnt phase her. I almost got a pillow and threw it at her but come on she's my mother in law.

We were ready and out the door by 9 but Christine wanted to see if they had any suvineer shops outside of Disneyland to buy shirts for all her grandkids, she has 16 plus some adopted ones. We found a store, found some shirts and of course some shoes. Luckily she didnt try them on (if you know my mother in law she has like over 600 pairs of shoes all in plastic clear plastic containers). Bless her heart or mine, we were there for what seemed like eternity! Finally we made it do to Disneyland at 11:30, yep you read it right 11:30. I thought we were never going to make it there. Our first ride that Broc wanted to take Grandma on was the Buzz Light Year. We had a great day and I was really excited to see Captin EO again! For those Die Hard Disney fans isnt it great that it is back. Christine thought it was cute but I dont think she appreicated it as much as I did. ;) She was amazed at how much things had changed and how much there was to do. And of course how many shops there were. We probably should have spent 4 days there just so we could spend a day looking at all the store with her and watching all the parades.

Wednesday we went to California Adventure for most of the day. She loved Sorin Over California and we all loved the new Toy Story ride. Broc was bumed he still wasnt tall enough to go on California Screamer, but next year or maybe in 6 months. (Much to Kris's dismay I am sure). Broc and I rode on the Bear River Rapids and didnt get too wet, but I bought a poncho because I really didnt want either of us to get too wet as it was overcast and kinda chilly out.
Later that day we literly draged Christine on Splash Mountain. (she is affraid of heights and or rollar coasters) when we got ready to get on Broc said he had to go to the bathroom and so she was like "oh we better hurry and take him you go ahead" I said nope he can wait, nice try you are going on this ride! She was so funny she started to pace. The picture was so funny that she bought it, I will scan it tomorrow and post it, it is priceless! She vowed never to go on it again, but I think that if any of her Grandkids asked her to go she would do it.

Later that night they played Fantasmic twice, we caught the end of the first show and as people were leaving from the first show we hurried and staked our claim on the hard floor for the next one that started 45 mins later. While we were waiting Broc got really cold so I wraped him up in my sweatshirt, then I got cold! So I went to get me a sweatshirt and was gone probably ten mins, when I got back Broc was sound asleep on the concrete floor, well half on the floor and half on Grandma's lap. He missed the whole show, nothing was going to wake this kid up! I pretty much recorded the whole thing. Some of it is blurry but hope you enjoy it. For those that havent seen it I will give you a quick discription on what it is about. Mickey has a dream and Maliphicent interupts his dream and tries to control his mind and make it bad, but of course love and beauty prevail and thats it. After the show we tried to wake him up but he wouldnt budge. So I carried him from Frontier Land all most all the way back to to hotel. It was when he said, "mom am I getting heavy, I am slipping." That I realized he was awake and could walk the rest of the way. My arms hurt so bad that night, he is one heavy kid!

We had such a wonderful time with Grandma that we cant wait to do it again. We hope she had just as much fun as we did. And I must say "we bonded"

Living Planet Aquirmum

Last week Krid asked me if I wanted to go down to The Living Planet Aquirum, I said, "Can we go to In-N-Out after?" "Sure" she said, "okay I will go!"
I would have gone either way but that trip to In-N-Out was just the icing on the cake.
It was a pretty cool place, we got to touch Sting Rays. Well I did I dont think the kids touched it because they didnt come up to the surface so you had to reach your had down pretty far. They had a lot of cool fish in there. They just recently "rented" pegunins. They were pretty cute.

More T-Ball Pics

My sister's camera takes great pics, or she takes great pics. So here are some more to enjoy.

5 Years Old

This has been a busy month for us. Graduation, now his B-Day. Well actually it his birthday first then graduation but that is okay, he is so smart he graduated earlier!
This year was the first year where the weather has been crappy for his birthday, but we didn't let that put a damper on it. He has never had a friend party so this year we did that, it was a Pirate Party. I think the kids had a blast and I did too. My sister being the great cook she is made Broc the coolest pirate ship cake, it was so awesome. (I am so glad she is talented)
I decided to do a treasure hunt for them. I made up little clues and at each spot they found a treasure or something that would help them look more like pirates, at the very end Kris buried treasure in the sand box and of course the X marked the spot. After that we had a pinata. They did some damage to it, but I kinda broke it because they were getting upset as to how many turns they were having, so to solve the problem I broke it. And of course my first swing was a total miss because of the person holding it, yep you guessed it, it was Kris. The kids had a great time and I am so glad he has made such wonderful friends. Of course he also had a couple of boy cousins come too.
After that was over we hurried and got ready for T-Ball. Of course we won and Broc did great.
After that we had our family over for a BBQ and then Ice Cream and Cake. It was a very busy day but a wonderful one too.
Now that he is 5 he keeps saying "now I can go to Kindergarten right mom, like right now, when do I get to go?" I tell him September and he says, "ahhhh that will take forever!" I say, "I hope so!" Kris and I are so blessed to have him, words cannot describe the love we have for him and the joy and happiness he brings to our family.
We love you Skip!
WARNING: LOTS OF PICS

Pre-School Graduation

I cant believe it is all ready over. Broc graduated from pre-school. I have seen him grow so much in the past year that it is hard to put into words. For his graduation they sand some songs then presented each child with a diploma and a packet of some things they did the first week and some things they did the last week so we could see how much they had improved. I must say I think Broc was smart to begin with but actually seeing it on paper was just the icing on the cake for me. We had a big cheering section for his graduation, my parents were there, and my sister Kristin and her 3 kids came as well. May not seem like a lot to you but to us it was great. Thanks you guys for supporting Broc.

Pics from Ogden Marathon

Here are some pics from the Ogden Marathon. For those who don't know my dad ran this with me! Other than the race they did for me almost two years ago my dad has never ran before! He had been practicing for about a month and did very well for his first timed race!
It was freezing cold at the start of the race which was by the Timbermine restaurant at the mouth of Ogden Canyon. But we pressed on and what a beautiful run it was! There were several people from my ward that ran and a couple of our friends as well.
My knees did a little bit better and hopefully are getting better! My goal is to run more 5k's this year and at the end of this year of first of next year to run another half and maybe a full marathon. If the folks on Biggest Loser can do it then I can do it as well.
Thanks Dad for running this with me and taking an interest in something I enjoy doing. I hope to make this a tradition that the two of us can keep doing and who knows maybe Erik and Kristin will join us next year!!!!!

For the BIRDS

Last year we had some nice little birdies build a nest on our wood trusses out front. I didn't mind so much and actually thought it was cute once the baby birds were born.
WELL NOW I AM SICK OF THE DUMB BIRDS!
For the past few weeks they keep trying to get into my BBQ grill to build a nest. We have cleaned out our BBQ grill several times due to the cluster of branches and grass.
I put the cover on it and they found a way through the small slit in it! I rolled up bags in foil and covered the holes on the side and they went through the bottom. Kris even turned the grill on and let it burn for a few hours (wasting our propane) thinking maybe if we burned what they all ready started they would get the hint and not build! My last resort was just leave the lid open, that way they wont have any shelter! Well look at where that got me and look at what they are doing to my deck! I have a lawn guy, a bug guy, does anyone know of a bird guy??????

Race for the Cure

Saturday was the Susan G. Koman Race for the cure. I participated in this race last year and was only able to do the one mile walk. This year I was able to do the 5K!
I was also lucky to have two of the most wonderful people come and support and run with me. My sister Kristin and my sister in law Amber (Pip). Pip came with me last year but Kristin couldn't because she was in Nebraska. It was so nice to have the two of them with me. Pip kicked our but in running but we all made it through the finish line. Kristin made us pink TUTU's to wear, I wasn't sure if Pip would wear it because she really HATES pink but she wasn't above looking silly to support me. My friend Mauri gave me pink spray paint for our hair, mine looked maroon but Kristins was pink. After I got home Broc looked at me and said "mom what did you do to your hair?" We looked very cute and silly and received lots of compliments on them. We were even in the channel 4 news.
I also got some support from my friend Marie Rich, she would have ran with us but she lives in Arizona. I have known her since I was knee high to a grasshopper, she donated in my honor. Thank you so much for your support!
It was an amazing sight to see! Mothers, daughters, sons, husbands, grandparents, people all ages showed up for this race all to support their loved ones. It looked like a sea of pink and white. White shirts were worn by the people who were supporting breast cancer survivors and those who fought the battle and lost. Pink was worn by those were survived breast cancer. I saw old women in their 80's walking this race, I also saw a very young looking woman, younger than myself. I didn't get a chance to talk with her but my heart ached because she looked so very young. I am talking earlier 20's.
I was grateful to be in the presence of such amazing women and their loved ones. To see their determination and drive to beat this terrible disease was truly amazing. It really does take
HOPE, FAITH, COURAGE
to beat this and that is achieved by the support and love from our family and friends. Thank you again Kristin and Pip for coming down there with me and hope next year to get more of you to enjoy this amazing event.

Busy Busy

Wow I dont know where to start. So many things have been going on. I will start with my Pride and Joy Broc! He started T-Ball this past week and really likes it. Especially hitting the ball. When I signed him up they asked if we could be coaches and I put only if they were really desperate! Well they must have been because we are coaches. Kris wasnt to thrilled about it but does a great job. Only a couple kids went the wrong way and it is so funny to watch at least 5 kids at the same time tackle the baseball. Over the next month every Tuesday and Thursday evening we will be doing T-Ball, kinda crazy but as long as Broc is enjoying it I am all for it.

On Friday Broc's pre-school had a trip to the fish farm. We have been before with Lori and her daughter Angela so when Broc heard that they were going to the fish farm he was thrilled. Thankfully his Nana was there because I was not about to pull the hook out of that fishes mouth, and usually that is Angela's job.
It took him a couple tries to catch one, as soon as one would nibble he would pull the line out of the water. But when he finally caught one he was excited. Since we dont eat fish he says to Nana " You better take this home to Bart because we dont like fish!" So lucky for her she got a small fish to take home to cook. Thanks Karen for going with us, he was happy you came.

April 28, 2010

So I havent blogged in a little bit so here are some pics for you to enjoy! We went to the kids safety fair last weekend, kinda boring but that is okay. I think the coolest thing there was the crash test cars. It was funny they put the kids in a seat and then had the seats run into each other. It kinda looked like they were in the front seat of a car. Really cute idea to give the kids a chance to see why we need seatbelts.

Also I have attached a pics of my two new shirts for the up coming Race for the Cure. It is May 8th at the Gateway. It is a 3.5 mile run or walk, it is not timed just a walk for the cure. I went last year right after I finished my treatments and only did half of it because I was to tried. This year I plan on doing the whole thing. So far my sister and sister in law are coming with me. I would love to have more freinds come along with me, it is a wonderful sight to see all the people out to support cancer research, it is like looking at a sea of pink. If you would like to come or sign up for the race go to this website and register or you can register when you get down there.

New Mexico

On March 31 Broc and I flew to New Mexico to see my oldest sister Tara. We had a wonderful and very relaxing time. Broc enjoyed playing with his cousins, all though he is not used to being around so many kids. We had Easter with them and a friend of my sisters so there was 10 kids looking for Easter eggs. They all got quite a bit of candy too.
Broc slept with his cousins most of the time but after sleeping in their room one night they had fallen asleep a lot faster then he did and he started to wine. So I went in there and told him to stop winning and not to come out of the room unless he had to go to the bathroom. The next morning the kids got up (they are earlier risers) and a few minutes later Broc woke up. Well I couldn't hear him because I was down stairs. My sister heard him crying in the room, she went in there to check why and asked why he was crying and he said, "mom told me to stay in here and not to come out unless i had to go to the bathroom." She laughed and told him to go ahead and find the boys. Well that night he didnt want to sleep with them anymore. MY FAULT. So he slept on the floor in my room. By the way they have the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept on in my life. I really need to get one, especially after coming back to my bed. We went over to the kids school one afternoon to play on their toys, they have the best playground toys I have ever been on. Utah schools should really invest in those kinds of things. It was warm and sunshine most of the time and then the day we come home I come home to a stinking blizzard!

We had a great time and cant wait to go back for another visit.
Here are some pics of our trip. Thanks Tara for having us and thank you Aubri for letting me have your nice room.

Brownies

I love brownies, so for the past couple Sunday Broc and I have been making them. He is starting to get really good at cracking the eggs and pouring the oil in, and really good at licking the beaters! I of course get to lick the bowl and make sure I leave a little bit extra left in there so I can eat it. YUMMY
