Kindergarden Here I Come!

We made it! Or should I say I made it through the day! We didn't get Broc to bed as early as I hoped on Tuesday night so I was worried if it was going to be a battle getting him up. But at 7 I went into his room gave him a kiss and he sat right up and said "Mom what time is it? I need to get dressed so I can go to school, I don't want to miss the bus!" I have never seen him get dressed so fast, even for the times we went to Disneyland.
He didn't even argue when I told him it was time to do his hair. I had planned on making him a nice breakfast and even woke up early as to make sure I had time, but I looked in the fridge and noticed no eggs! His favorite breakfast is French Toast. Ya cant make that with out eggs. So I will try another day, but he was great for having his favorite Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal. Breakfast of champions. While I was doing my hair I overheard Broc ask Kris for a blessing for his first day of school. I got all teary eyed when he asked and while Kris gave him the blessing. I told him after that he was ready to head off to school.
Of course we had to take pics before we left and he told me to "hurry mom, you take too many pics." Then he laughed at me as I followed Kris and him as they walked down to the bus stop and me in my car with my camera out the window take snap shots of them. (I am not crazy for following them in the car, I had to bring his list of stuff to the school so after the bus left I followed it to the school). We arrived at the bus stop like ten minutes early, but he didn't mind. It was funny because everyone that was early were all the parents with their kindergartners. Once the bus arrived the kids stood in a line to get on and I stood in line with him and reached for his hand and he pulled it away and said "not now mom" and put them in his pockets. I was heart broken, my little guy was too cool to hold his mommies hand. But he did give me a hug before he got on. I thought maybe he would sit in the front but nope, he had to check out all the seats. Finally he settled for a seat in the middle.
Once the bus left there was like 8 cars behind the bus, all parents following it to the school to make sure their kids got off and to their classes. Which I must say that is the one thing I was disappointed with the school about. There was no teacher or any staff their to help the kindergartners to get to their class. So once they got off the bus if they didn't have a sibling or a friend they didn't really know what to do once they got off. I was glad I was being an over protective parent, because the last thing I would want for Broc is to get upset because he didn't know where to go.
We found his class, and once their he knew exactly where to go to hang up his sweater and backpack and found his seat right away. I gave him another hug and relunctly left the room. Kris just hung back and laughed at me the whole time and just waved to Broc. I bet that is what Broc wished I would have done.
After I made sure he was off and good to go I went down to Kris's work to get some thing taken care of and while talking to Nana she said, "isn't today short day?" Oh CRAP! I had completely forgotten that Wednesday was their short day and it was 9:50 and they get done at 10:25. So I bee lined it out the door and drove as fast as I legally could to make sure I got home in time, the last thing I wanted was for him to get off the bus and me not be there, especially when I told him I would. Thankfully the bus was running a little behind and I made it in time.
When I asked him how his day was he said GREAT, and asked if he got to go back tomorrow. I then asked him what he learned or did and he said, "we learned how to push our chairs in, the pledge of allegiance, which I all ready knew, and colored and played tag and hopscotch" sounds like a fun day buddy! I hope tomorrow is as good as today!
Here I was thinking I didn't know what I was going to do with this extra time without him and it went by so fast I really didn't get to get anything done at all. Oh well there is always tomorrow.
Hair time!
